Game mode
There are five Game modes permanently available in Apex Legends: Training, the Firing Range, the Normal "Play Apex" game mode, Duos, and Ranked Leagues. Limited Time Modes (LTMs) or Takeovers are available during some events.

Training The game's tutorial. Playing as Lifeline, you learn the basics of how to play from Bloodhound and Pathfinder. | |
Firing Range A small area where you and 1-2 squadmates can try out every weapon and item and practice your aim on multiple targets. If 2-3 players are in the range, any player is able to toggle friendly fire on or off, giving them the ability to shoot each other. | |
Trios The basic game mode. Twenty squads of three compete on the arena for last squad standing. Current maps are Kings Canyon and Olympus, on rotation. War Games Takeovers active. | |
Duos[note 1] The same as Trios, but thirty squads of two. Current maps are Kings Canyon and Olympus, on rotation. War Games Takeovers active. | |
Ranked Leagues Similar to Play Apex, but with the addition of skill-based ranking for more evenly matched games. This game mode has unique rewards based on your rank that is awarded at the end of every ranked season. Current map is Olympus. |

Battle Armor During the event rotation, only one armor type would be available, and players would drop into the match with it already equipped. Players also dropped with a P2020 equipped with a 1x Holo Sight and twenty light ammo. All armor was removed from the loot pool, but shield cells and batteries, as well as all the other loot were still available. Hunt (PvE) There are nine Hunts this season, each Hunt completed unlocks a new piece of the Artifact piece, a reward and a new chapter in the ongoing story. Shadow Royale Shadow Royale starts like any other trios match, but when you die you will be raised from the dead in a powerful "Shadow Form" to exact vengeance on your killers and help carry your squad to victory. Armed with a brutal melee attack, enhanced mobility and blistering speed, you will terrorize other squads and protect your own with infinite Shadow lives until your living teammates are eliminated or you emerge victorious as the last living squad. Airdrop Escalation[note 2] This game mode has significantly more Care Packages that drop in clusters. Each supply drop contains a fully-kitted weapon of different tiers, depending on the round. For example, Round one’s drops feature level two kitted weapons while Round four’s drops include red armor and crate weapons. As with regular fully-kitted weapons, you can’t break them down or swap their attachments onto other weapons. And, of course, regular weapons and weapons will still appear as ground loot. Ran: |
