Ranked Leagues is a gamemode introduced in Season 2. It differs from the normal Play Apex gamemode in that players are matched with other players of the same or adjacent tier.
Like the Battle Pass Seasons, Ranked Leagues has Ranked Series after which players receive a reward based on their rank.
Mechanics
Ranked matches play the same as the normal Play Apex with the only difference being the matchmaking and the awarding of Ranked Points (RP) after every match. In Ranked, players are matched with players of the same or similar tier with placement, kills and assists giving away RP which is used to measure progress to the next tier. A set amount of RP is also deducted for each tier after Bronze.
Starting in Ranked Series 3, Ranked Series will be divided into "splits". Tiers reset after each split and your final ranked rewards are determined by the highest rank you reached on either split. Split 1 of Ranked Series will be played on World's Edge while Split 2 will be on Kings Canyon.
Prematurely leaving matches (by quitting before your banner expires and isn't picked up, or if its picked-up by a teammate, before the two minute and thirty second grace period for respawning expires) will net you a matchmaking penalty by applying a wait time before you can queue up again.
Tiers
Players are divided into six tiers, each with four divisions except Apex Predator where players are ranked globally via their current RP. The following table lists their respective RP entry costs and needed RP to advance to that tier listed.
Tier Image | Tier | Entry Cost | RP Needed |
---|---|---|---|
Bronze | N/A | N/A | |
Silver | 12 RP | 1200 RP | |
Gold | 24 RP | 2800 RP | |
Platinum | 36 RP | 4800 RP | |
Diamond | 48 RP | 7200 RP | |
Master | 60 RP | 10,000 RP | |
Apex Predator | 60 RP | Top 500 Players (based on RP) per platform. |
Progression
RP is given to players after each match currently based on two factors: Placement, Kills and Assists. The RP given out are as follows:
Placement[note 1] | RP Given | Kills/Assists Modifier[note 2] |
---|---|---|
Below Top 10 | 0 RP | 10 |
Placing Top 10 | 10 RP | 12 |
Placing Top 8 | 20 RP | |
Placing Top 6 | 30 RP | |
Placing Top 5 | 15 | |
Placing Top 4 | 40 RP | |
Placing Top 3 | 20 | |
Placing Top 2 | 60 RP | |
Champion | 100 RP | 25 |
This means that the maximum amount of RP one can receive in a match (by being champion and having at least 5 Kills or Assists) is 225 RP.
