Abilities[ | ]

Echo Relocation[ | ]

Echo Relocation Tactical Q/LB/L1/LB
Echo Relocation
Description Position your winged companion Echo and then Launch toward him. Must have line of sight for Echo to launch.
Cooldown 20 seconds

  • Tapping the tactical button is used to deploy and reposition Echo
    • Holding the tactical button to launch to him if he is out.
    • Utility button to recall him.
  • If Echo is not out: holding the tactical button will deploy and prep a launch toward Echo, who will be about 35m ahead of initialization position.
  • Deploying, repositioning and recalling Echo can be done simultaneously while performing other actions (e.g. shooting, reloading, healing), except reviving.
  • When deployed or repositioned, Echo will move in the direction of Vantage's reticle, and stop at 40m distance from the use-location.
    • Deploying Echo is instant, but repositioning has a short delay, where Vantage plays her whistle for 0.5 seconds.
    • When targeting the ground, Echo will float 5m above the location.
  • Echo will automatically start following Vantage if she moves farther than 55m of him.
  • Echo cannot be killed and will persist on the map until recalled.
    • When recalled, Echo will travel toward Vantage at the speed of 20 m/s (speed of standard zipline), ignoring obstacles.
    • Echo is automatically recalled when skydiving.
  • The launch animation takes 1 second. It can be initiated from any position, but will fail if Vantage doesn't have line of sight to Echo at the end of the animation.
    • Line-of-sight means Echo needs to be in view from Vantage. As such, looking away also breaks line of sight and causes the launch to fail.
    • Riding a zipline also prevents Vantage from having a line of sight to Echo.
    • Successful launch places the ability on cooldown. Echo can still be deployed, repositioned and recalled while the ability is on cooldown.
  • Pressing crouch while in air turns off the boosters.
  • Upon reaching Echo, you can double jump to boost yourself in any direction, yielding an extra 20 meters of horizontal distance.

  • Echo actually flies through map geometry and prop in a straight line. In follow mode, Echo may even be outside of the map.

  • Echo is highly visible to enemies with a bright orange flare effect, similar to Crypto's Surveillance Drone Surveillance Drone, which is occasionally even visible through walls. When not in the midst of a fight, it can be best to keep Echo hidden or undeployed to avoid being tracked by enemies.
  • Having Echo deployed and ready to launch may seem like a good idea, however, it is faster to deploy Echo as you are going to launch.
  • If you recall Echo shortly before you use the double jump, you will keep momentum significantly better compared to not recalling. This effect is amplified by Vantage's Bat Bounce perk

Spotter's Lens[ | ]

Spotter's Lens Passive
Spotter's Lens
Description Aim down sights to scout with your eyepiece (unarmed or with mid- to long-range scopes) and use a bullet drop indicator to see where your shots will land.
?

  • Vantage can scope in unarmed, providing a 3x zoom and activating the effect.
  • When used with a weapon, the equipped optic must provide 2x zoom or greater, with the exception of the 1x-2x Variable Holo 1x-2x Variable Holo. An icon is displayed next to the weapon in the HUD if the optic is compatible.
    • 2x HCOG Bruiser 2x HCOG Bruiser provides enemy information but not the bullet drop indicator.
  • When an enemy is within the large blue rectangle, a smaller rectangle appears to indicate the targeted enemy. The bullet drop indicator then activates and the interface displays the Legend's name, their distance from the player and the tier of all their teammates' Evo Shield Evo Shields.
    • Only one enemy's details can be displayed at a time, prioritizing the one closest to the reticle.
    • Pinging the targeted enemy will report that particular enemy's armor type and how many players are alive in their squad.
  • The maximum range enemies can be picked up from depends on the current zoom level of the optic:
    • 175m for 2x
    • 200m for 3x
    • 250m for 4x
    • 450m for 8x
  • Can spot enemies through some degree of visual obstruction, like windows or leaves.

  • Can distinguish Mirage's Decoys - Will mark as "DECOY", with no enemy information provided.
  • Can spot enemies through Bangalore's Smoke Launcher Smoke Launcher. A general infobox and bullet drop indicator will be provided, but no enemy outlines.
  • Can spot enemy through glass. Player will be unable to ping the enemy for call outs.

  • Unlike regular ping which requires the crosshair to be very close to the enemy, as long as an enemy is highlighted by the spotter scope they can be pinged and called out. Thus, as soon as you see the armor indicator, ping away for faster tracking.
  • Although Spotter's Lens cannot be used while sprinting (using it will cancel the sprint and force you into a jog), it can be used effectively while guns are holstered, sliding, using ziplines, or in the air - effectively able to scan around while retaining speed. Taking a quick glance around the area while moving with your team can provide valuable intel ahead of an engagement.
  • As this effectively functions as a pseudo digi-threat with most scopes, Vantage is very powerful in dark maps.

Sniper's Mark[ | ]

Sniper's Mark Ultimate Z/LB+RB/L1+R1/LB+RB
Sniper's Mark
Description Use your custom sniper rifle to mark enemy targets which applies a damage bonus for you and your team.
Charge time 4 minutes

  • Advanced weapon information can be found at Vantage/Sniper's Mark.
  • Gains 1 round for every 20% ultimate charge. Sniper's Mark can be used whenever there is at least 1 round available.
    • Takes 40 seconds to gain 1 round (2.5% of a bullet per second) and a total of 4 minutes to acquire the maximum 6 rounds.
  • Comes with custom 3x-8x optic (toggle by "run" button). This will also work with Vantage's passive.
  • While aiming down sights on Sniper's Mark, a laser will come out from the rifle that is visible to both your enemies (in orange) and teammates (in blue).
  • On hit, deals 50 base damage, with a 1.5× headshot multiplier, and marks the enemy for 10 seconds.
    • Mark applies a +15% damage vulnerability from all sources. Stacks with other damage modifiers, such as Rampart's Amped Cover Amped Cover, but not with itself.
    • Subsequent hits from Sniper's Mark on a marked enemy will instead deal 2x damage and reset the mark to 10 seconds.
    • Marked players can see an icon next to their ultimate icon that shows the duration of the debuff.
    • Can mark up to 5 enemies at a time.
  • Can shoot on door handles to open doors.
  • The Sniper's Mark features the only scope in the game with more than 4x zoom to also receive aim assist.
  • The Sniper's Mark features the largest bullets in the game, expanding to a maximum size 5x that of the Sentinel's at their furthest range and allowing novice players to hit shots at long distances.

  • If a Mark is applied on Mirage, the mark stays on him for the entire duration. The mark will not transfer to any decoys produced afterwards.
  • While Sniper's Mark has any rounds available, Ultimate Accelerant Ultimate Accelerants must be activated from the Inventory. They provide enough charge for 2 rounds.
  • As it is an ultimate, it does not count as Sniper Rifle for the purpose of battlepass challenge progress.

  • In Arena, the Sniper Mark's remaining bullets carry over to the next round, even without purchasing. You always buy the ultimate at full price. Can be bought every other round.

  • The rifle's laser can both expose your position to your enemy, but also apply pressure and force them to scramble for cover.
  • With the Sniper's Mark being fast to recharge, as well as Spotter's Lens activating even with a 2x HCOG, Vantage can be optimized by not carrying a sniper. Especially as the rings close, a sniper rifle loses the range advantage and it is better to be equipped with a backup weapon. Even with the Sniper's Mark being less effective to use at the final ring, Vantage can still utilize her tactical and the extra firepower from having two at-range weapons.
    • If you find yourself using snipers only occasionally but still feel the need to reach that range in the off-chance, Vantage can be better than Ballistic as "Three-weapon Legend". Aside from ensuring you will have two good kitted guns, Vantage has good movement capability, and her ultimate doesn't require storage of sniper bullets. Though with the recent Ballistic changes, his perk Sling-Shot essentially makes most of this argument obsolete.

Lore[ | ]

Main article: Vantage (character)
Xiomara “Mara” Contreras was born and raised alone on the wild ice planet Págos by her survivalist mother, Xenia. Mara proved gifted with a sniper rifle from the moment she was big enough to look through the scope and reach the trigger at the same time. The tight-lipped Xenia could only get her chatty daughter to stop asking questions by giving her a scavenged copy of Encyclopedia Outlandica, which Mara memorized front to back.

When Mara was 18, she discovered the wreck of the G.D.S. Vantage. Inside, she found evidence of a shocking truth: years ago, her mother was brought to Págos aboard a prison transport ship. Disturbed by the intrusion, the ship collapsed into a crevasse, trapping a wounded Mara. By the time Xenia got to her daughter, the injuries were too severe for her to treat. To save her daughter’s life, Xenia set off the prison ship’s SOS beacon, but was imprisoned once more in return.

Once Mara had healed, she visited her mother in jail, promising to find a way to get her out. At a loss for what to do, unable to return to her planet, and unable to fit into society, Mara’s eye turned to the Apex Games. In it, she saw a situation she understood--survival--and a platform to draw public attention to Xenia’s case. So Mara took on the name Vantage and joined the Games to rally support for her mother - but how will a kid from an empty, frozen tundra fare under the heat of the spotlight?
